Rat Race review

Rat Race was an interesting scavenger hunt based comedy. It had a lot of slapstick comedy in the movie so if slapstick isn't your thing than this one may not appeal to you. The basic storyline is a casino owner in Vegas picks 6 random patrons to race to a remote railroad station which is several hundred miles away where a bag with $2 million dollars is stashed. It seems simple enough but each of the contestants runs into their own logistical and sometimes personal problems. There are plenty of laughable moments as they race to the finish line. The movie has a star studded cast and they all play their parts well. One of my favorite parts was the squirrel lady and the consequences of someone not buying a squirrel from her. Overall the movie was entertaining, had a good storyline and had a unexpected but feel good ending. The movie will appeal to those who like a good comedy and particularly those who love slapstick.

Sleepaway Camp review

Sleepaway Camp is one of the first summer camp slasher movies that was brought out in the 80's. A summer camp is the setting of the movie and all is well until someone starts killing the campers one by one. The movie has the same feel and acting as you would expect from an 80's slasher flick but it was still an entertaining movie. You will probably be able to guess who the killer is well before the end of the movie but the ending will still surprise you. This movie will appeal to those who enjoy movies like Friday the 13th or horror movies from the 80's.

American Pie Presents: Band Camp review

Band Camp is the 4th installment in the American Pie series. It is set about 5 years after the first movie and all of the original characters have completed college. A new set of characters are the main characters including Stifler's little brother Matt who is trying to be just like his brother by causing trouble. After setting up a big prank on the high school band he is sent to Tall Oaks, the same band camp that Michelle from the first movies attended. Being a jock he has trouble fitting in and continues his troublesome ways. Some of the stars from the first movie are back like Jim's dad and Sherman, who help connect this movie to the series. The movie had good acting and is just as funny and entertaining as the other movies in the series. Having a new cast and setting gave the series a new fresh atmosphere and it worked well. If you liked the other movies in this series you should like this one too.

Mean Creek review

The movie follows a group of teenagers who invite the local bully along for a boating trip. They have set up an elaborate plan to humiliate the bully on the boating trip. During the trip there is a accident and the kids are forced to make decisions and consider the consequences of those actions. The movie is powerful in the sense that the kids have been placed in an uncomfortable situation and they have to decide what is the best way to handle it. The acting was pretty good and was entertaining throughout the movie. I would recommend this to drama fans, however if you don't like sad endings this one is not for you.

Virus review

I received this movie by mistake but I am glad I went ahead and watched it. It had a powerful storyline where a virus takes over the world and kills almost everyone on the planet. The only ones left are on research stations in Antarctica and they try and grasp what has happened to the world and what their next steps should be. The movie is an example of how a single virus can devastate the world in a short time. The movie was interesting and kept my attention the whole time. The movie quality was not brilliant but this is to be expected from an early 80's movie. This movie would appeal to those who like mass disaster movies like "The Stand" or medical and biological disaster movies.

The Final Destination review

After watching all four Final Destination movies this was definitely the weakest of the series. The 3D aspect was a nice touch but it did little to mask the staleness and lack of new features for final destination fans. This movie is a carbon copy of the previous films in regards to the plot but it seemed to lack the suspense and interest that the previous movies provided. The deaths in this film lacked the buildup and suspense that the previous film had, and some of the deaths seemed thrown together hastily just to fill time. Having said that the movie is not horrible and is fairly interesting. If this was a stand alone movie or perhaps the first movie in the series I would have enjoyed it more. It just seemed like more of the same without any new elements that would keep the audience interested.

Happy Gilmore review

This movie is a must see for any Adam Sandler fan. It was funny and entertaining from start to finish. This movie is more suited for people who enjoy silly humor. I enjoyed all of it except for the Bob Barker fight but thats just me. You do not have to like golf to enjoy this either so if you are in the mood for a good laugh this is one that will make you laugh time and time again.

Live Free or Die Hard review

This movie into the Die Hard series well. If you didn't like the previous Die Hard movies then you probably wouldn't like this one either. I didn't like this one as much as the previous movie in the series Die Hard with a Vengeance. Having said that, you do not have to see the previous movies to follow the storyline. It follows the same storyline as the previous movies. This time round Bruce Willis has to chase the bad guys after they shut down the utility network in the US by hacking into computer systems. It has plenty of action and stunts so if you liked the previous movies or like action movies then this is worth a look.

Lost: The Complete 4th Season review

Season 4 deals with the events on the island after the survivors contact a ship that is sitting off the coast of the island. They hope it will be a quick and easy rescue but in true Lost style it is not that easy. You are introduced to new characters from the ship that all have they own purpose and story and even more questions are raised. The season was cut short due to the writer's strike so it seems like its over before it began. As in previous season you are drawn into the story and keep watching to see what mysteries are solved and which new questions will be raised.
