The Happening review

Posted : 13 years, 11 months ago on 12 May 2010 01:48 (A review of The Happening)

The Happening seems to fall into the "either love it or hate it" category. I enjoyed the movie for what it was, a end of the world type movie. The movie followed The storyline follows Elloit (Mark Wahlberg) and Alma (Zooey Deschanel) as they try to escape some sort of airborne toxin that is spreading across the northeast of the United States that causes people to die, often in unconventional ways and in groups. At first they are unsure as to the cause but as time goes on they slowly figure out what is causing the toxin but it may be too late for them to escape. To fully enjoy this movie you need to have an open mind and just enjoy the story. The cause of the toxin may be far fetched but this is a movie and at least the writers had some imagination and tried something different. This movie would best suit people that enjoy "end of the world movies" like "The Stand", "28 Days Later" etc. Try it out for yourself.

Transsiberian review

Posted : 13 years, 11 months ago on 11 May 2010 02:13 (A review of Transsiberian)

Tran Siberian follows and young American couple Roy (Woody Harrelson) Jessie (Emily Mortimer) that are traveling on the Trans Siberian railway from China to Moscow. The first part of the movie introduces you to Roy and Jessie, and the other people on the train. Some of these people are memorable, especially the mean Russian maid. Early in the journey they meet their new bunkmates Carlos and Abby, another young couple (there are 4 bunks in each compartment on the train and passengers can be paired up with total strangers). The two couples become friendly and socialize on the train. The seemingly uneventful trip takes a quick detour after they get off the train at one of the stops in Russia. Until this point the movie is slow and uneventful but it does a good job at building the plot and character development. After this however the movie suddenly picks up pace and you are glued to your screen for the remainder of the film. The movie takes several twists and will keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. I enjoyed the movie and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good thriller.
